Keira Knightley shows off new hairdo!

Keira Knightley landed a coveted front-row seat for the Chanel SS11 fashion show in Paris and Knightley's new bob hairstyle stole the show.

Keira Knightley

Paris Fashion Week is always about what's new, hot and funky, and today, it appears, Keira Knightley's retro 'do fits the bill. Knightley showed off a sleek new look at Tuesday's Chanel Spring-Summer 2011 show and her new retro bob is all the talk!

"I had my hair bobbed about a month ago. Then I had it freshly trimmed again this morning,"Knightley told UK InStyle.

The new look definitely works for Knightley, but with all the hoopla, SheKnows is having flashbacks to Keri Russell's infamous on-air haircut during her run as Felicity.

Knightley says the big change wasn't for an upcoming project. Like Felicity, she just wanted to shake things up for herself.

Of course, the 25-year-old Brit does have plenty of projects in the works. Her indie flick with Carey Mulligan, Never Let Me Go, is in theaters now and A Dangerous Method and The Emperor's Children are set to release next year.

"I am spending most of my time working and on film sets," Knightley recently told Parade. "It's a very protective kind of bubble, which is fantastic, so I haven't been overly aware of [the spotlight of fame]. At the moment, what I want to do is make films and, therefore, all is good."

Keira Knightley

Knightley also took time away from the camera to hit the stage for the play The Misanthrope and her performance landed her a Laurence Olivier award nom for Best Supporting Actress. "I was very lucky, and I'd love to do more theatre!" she gushed to UK InStyle.

The Pirates of the Caribbean beauty won't, however, be doing more Pirates installments. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides hits theaters next May and the Johnny Depp show is set to go on without Knightley and Orlando Bloom.

"I was 17 when I started it and 21 when I finished,"Knightley told Parade."I think that was enough for me. Three films, it was wonderful, but that was it and I'm on a different path. I can't wait to see the new one. I'm sure it's going to be fantastic. I'm fine not being a part of it. It was time for me to dive into other worlds."

Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel battle for Batman love interest

The sequel to The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, is one of the most anticipated films out there. So who will be the leading lady now that Maggie Gyllenhaal's Rachel Dawes is out of the picture? We'll let you know which actresses are testing for the not one, but two female roles.

Keira Knightley

The only female character in The Dark Knight, Rachel Dawes, is out of Batman's life. There was that little matter of a bomb if you recall. Well, according to The Hollywood Reporter, we're going to get two brand new ladies in the upcoming third and, according to Christopher Nolan, final film in the series. One a villain and one a love interest.

Comic geeks like me think one of them might be Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of Ra's Al Ghul, played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins. She's a bit of an anti-heroine and a pretty complex character, something Nolan loves. She's the sometime lover of our favorite caped crusader and the mother of Bruce Wayne's son. No confirmation on this, of course, just speculation.

So who is testing for the roles? It's being reported that Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel are about to test at Warner Bros. along with relative newcomers Kate Mara and Charlotte Riley. Mara's sister Rooney Mara is currently shooting The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and Riley is a British actress engaged to Tom Hardy, who starred in Nolan's Inception and will play a small role in the new Batman film.

Nolan and Warner Bros. have yet to comment, but with the film starting production in late May, we should be getting some confirmed news soon. If the villain role is indeed Talia Al Ghul, who would you like to see in the role? Personally, I'm thinking Knightley has the right exotic look and feral way about her for the role. Despite critics of her fluffy Pirates of the Caribbean role, she showed some serious acting chops in the sadly overlooked Never Let Me Go this year.

Let us know what you think!

Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend call it quits

Keira Knightley is going to make a lot of Hollywood single men happy as reports surface that she has split from longtime love, Rupert Friend.

Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend

Five years of courtship is a lifetime in Hollywood relationships these days, which is why the split of Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend comes as quite the shock.

The couple of five years is no more, according to Keira Knightley's father, Will. "Yes, they have broken up," Will Knightley confirmed to The Sun. "But that's the way things go, unfortunately. The only option is to get on with things."

The beloved British actress met Rupert Friend in 2005 while filming Pride and Prejudice. Of the five years they spent together, her father said: "They were together for quite a long time and it is always hard breaking up. She's focused on her work."

Knightley has always felt awkward in the light of Hollywood fame and perhaps having two actors in the fold could have been a downfall, but that's just a thought. "I'm still not good at being recognized. I wear scruffy clothes and hats and keep my head well down,"Knightley once told Vogue. "I'm sure people must think I'm a complete [expletive], but I'm just very shy."

We're sure this was just a case of a relationship running its course. Good luck to both Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend.

Carey Mulligan stars in Never Let Me Go opposite Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield and tells us in this exclusive clip about the remarkable discovery she made on the set.

Never Let Me Go is a science fiction love story adapted from Kazuo Ishiguro's book and possesses a multitude of layers that would be expected of such a deeply personal novel.

Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan in Never Let Me Go

In our exclusive clip, Carey Mulligan talks about meeting the actress who plays her as a young girl and the extraordinary similarities the two share, beyond their could-be-sisters look.

The movie comes to home video with a whole heap of buzz as one of 2010's most impressive films. Never Let Me Gois as equally moving as it is jaw-dropping in its ability to send audiences into another world. The story follows Ruth , Tommy and Kathy -- three friends since elementary school who embark on their lives sharing an unsettling secret that could unravel all of their worlds.

The trio first meets at an English boarding school and becomes incredibly close as they grow up. It is when they are about to graduate that they learn their fate -- all are genetically engineered clones whose sole purpose is to exist for organ donations. Do they run or do they stay and live the life designed for them?

If they leave, they risk everything, but the opportunity to live their lives, find love and grow old is too powerful to resist.

Keira Knightley is over it. The actress has moved on from her breakup and has been spotted with rocker James Righton!

Keira KnightlyKeira Knightley seems to have moved on from her breakup with longtime boyfriend Rupert Friend. The Pirates of the Caribbean star was spotted smooching Klaxons keyboardist James Righton!

Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend broke up in December and the actress had been keeping a low profile ever since. But with spring comes romance, and for this 26-year-old beauty there is no exception. Knightley was spied smooching a British rock star in the park!

Who is the lucky musician in question? James Righton, who plays keyboards for the indie rock band the Klaxons. The pair was introduced by mutual pal Alexa Chung in March and they have been hot and heavy ever since.

Keira and Friend dated for five years when they broke up right before Christmas. They met in 2005 on the set of Pride and Prejudice. At the time, Keira's father confirmed the news with the typical British stiff upper lip.

"Yes, they have broken up," Will Knightley told the Sun. "But that's the way things go, unfortunately. The only option is to get on with things."

Keira seems to have gotten on with things quite nicely, don't you think?

Fairytale TV: Syfy gets in on the magic with Neverland

$

Retro TV shows and reboots looked to be all the rage this season, but fantasies and fairytales have proven to be the dark horses set to win the Fall 2011 ratings race. Now, Syfy is getting in on the magic.

While Charlie's Angels and The Playboy Club crashed and burned right out of the gate, fantastical hybrids Grimm and Once Upon a Time have been ratings magic this fall. Now, Syfy is getting its own sprinkling of fairy dust with the mini-series Neverland, an origins tale that goes back to a time before Peter Pan , Capt. Hook and The Lost Boys knew Tinker Bell , pirates Smee , Elizabeth Bonny and Starkey , or the magical land they inhabit.

Peter Pan is about to meet Tinkerbell for the first time

Syfy's upcoming two-night movie event, which premieres Dec. 4-5, couldn't come at a better time. Primetime's fairytale reboots are ruling their time slots this season, with NBC's Grimm even beating out CSI: NY and Fringe this week. Once Upon a Time has also had a magical start and while it couldn't beat out football love this week, it still topped the rest of the competition.

In contrast, the highly-hyped Charlie's Angels and The Playboy Club have already been canceled, while Pan Am is waiting with bated breath to hear its fate. Some critics are confident ABC's adventure in the sky drama won't last through it's first season, but with a fresh order for five additional scripts, the show's future doesn't seem quite as up in the air as some suggest.

Pan Am is fighting to stay in the game and managed to hold steady with 5.5 million viewers this Sunday, but that number was a big drop from lead-in Desperate Housewives, which had over 9 million viewers. It also pales in comparison next to Once Upon a Time's almost 12 million viewers earlier the same night.

Syfy's Neverland: What's the story?

As with all the fairytale dramas afoot, Syfy's Neverland is a rebooted, fresh take on a very familiar tale, promising to be a "story you never knew about a place you know by heart." The origins tale from writer/director Nick Willing looks back to a time before Peter met Wendy, hated Capt. Hook or even knew of Neverland.

Peter once loved Hook in SyFy's Neverland

When the action picks up, Peter is an orphan and street urchin taken in by Jimmy Hook, a gentleman of London who has fallen from grace. Hook secretly manages a network of young pickpockets and thieves — aka the Lost Boys before they were lost — and smart new addition Peter quickly becomes the dedicated leader of the gang.

After the boys steel a magical orb for Hook, they find themselves in Neverland, a mystical world that seems rife with opportunity and adventure. However, Peter soon becomes embroiled in a fight to save Neverland and battle lines are drawn. Peter Pan falls in with Tinker Bell and Aaya ; while Hook is lured in by the 18th century power-mad pirate captain, Elizabeth Bonny.

SheKnows suspects that by battle's end, Neverland will look like more like the world viewers "know by heart."

Keira Knightley practices sex faces on Skype

Keira Knightley practiced long and hard to get just the right facial expressions for her new movie -- but this role was a bit sexier than most. See why she had to work at it and why she almost didn't take the part.

Michael Fassbender, Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortenson

Getting into character for Keira Knightley's sexy new role in A Dangerous Method took the actress far outside of her comfort zone and straight into X-rated territory.

Knightley plays beautiful young psychiatric patient Sabina Spielrein, who gets off on being spanked. Since the actress claims this isn't in her usual bedroom repertoire, she had some practicing to do.

No, she didn't enlist someone to smack her bottom, at least not that she's admitting, but she did practice her O face both privately and for director David Cronenberg.

"It was a huge part of what Sabina was doing a lot of the time,"Knightley told The Sun. "So I asked psychoanalysts about it and they said, 'Sex and anything like that is trying to release energy, trying to release pent-up emotion.'"

"So I worked with that and sat in my bathroom and pulled faces at myself for about two days, trying to figure out what it was going to be."

"Then I got on Skype with David and went, 'I've come up with this,' or, 'I've come up with this,' and he went, 'That one!'"

Poor guy's got a rough job.

In real life, Knightley's character had a sadomasochistic relationship with famed 20th century psychiatrist Carl Jung, regarded as the father of modern psychology. Michael Fassbender has the honor of spanking her in the flick.

But she almost didn't take the part because of the dark sex scenes.

"I went, 'I love you, I love it, but I really don't know if I want to do that. I'm really not sure about it,'" she recounted of a phone call she made to Cronenberg.

"And he went, 'Well, I think it would be a tragedy if you didn't do the part because of that so if you want them out then we just won't shoot them or we'll find a way that will make you comfortable doing it.'"

"I realized they were integral to the piece, that it was really important to see them and show that within the study of that relationship," she said. That kind of made me go, 'Oh, OK, all right, as long as it's not some weird sort of sexy scene thing.'"

Watch Michael Fassbender spank the heck out of Keira Knightley when A Dangerous Method is released on Feb. 10, 2012. Just in time for Valentine's Day!

In the quirky comedy about finding a friend when the world is literally crashing down around you, Steve Carell and Keira Knightley make for a comedic odd couple in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

Seeing a friend for the end of the worldSteve Carell and Keira Knightley are an odd couple dealing with an even odder situation. The earth will be destroyed by a meteor in three weeks, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it.

Carell plays Dodge, an office worker who finds out -- along with the rest of the world – about the demise of the planet. Panicked, emotional and completely out of their minds, everyone else responds in stride.

Dodge on the other hand seems to have a deadpan approach to this looming disaster. He was lonely before he found out the earth was being destroyed, and he's lonely now.

The king of quirk

Known for his outrageous roles in films like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Get Smart and Date Night, Carell has found a voice lately in the world of quirky, indie comedies. Die-hard fans get goose bumps when talking about his performances in Crazy, Stupid, Love and Dan in Real Life.

The two spark up an unusual friendship in order to help each other confront life's regrets. This newfound connection might be all Dodge needs to give his final days some meaning.

Someone is making an honest woman out of Keira Knightley: She's engaged! Find out who she's marrying -- and what she's up to these days.

Keira Knightley engaged to James Leighton

Pirates of the Caribbean stunner Keira Knightley played a bridesmaid at her brother's wedding a few months ago, but now it's her turn to take the marital spotlight. The actress, 27, is engaged to marry her indie rocker boyfriend, her publicist confirmed Friday.

Knightley started dating The Klaxons keyboard player James Righton in 2011 after she broke off her long-term relationship with actor Rupert Friend. They were reportedly introduced by a mutual friend, but don't expect her to talk about her new engagement in-depth anytime soon.

Keira Knightley practices sex faces on Skype>>

"I’ve never spoken about that, because that’s just my bit. I did my first interview at 15, and as the press interest got more and more, I realized there were parts of my life that had to be just for me," she told GQ last year. "It’s a strange thing — I’m actually incredibly open with my mates. Or even people I just meet. But seeing as it’s written down — it just freaks me out."

We get it, Keira — but we still want to know!

The actress is busy in her professional life, too: She's starring with Steve Carell in the upcoming Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, due for release on June 22. As for the plot?

"Steve Carell and Keira Knightley star in this apocalyptic comedy following two neighbors who set out for one last road trip after learning that a massive asteroid will wipe out all life on Earth in just three weeks. As the odometer turns and society collapses all around them, the connection that Dodge and Penny form takes them on a wild adventure befitting of the end days, and reveals how the most important people can enter our lives at the most unexpected times," according to the official synopsis. Comedian Patton Oswalt also co-stars.

Keira Knightley's marriage falls apart in Anna Karenina

Keira Knightley's back to doing what she does best -- period dramas. The British actress plays the main character in Joe Wright's big screen adaptation of Anna Karenina. She's a character that encounters some serious highs and lows within her strained marriage.

Keira Knightley

In real life, Keira Knightley is happily engaged to be married, but onscreen she's miserable. The Oscar-nominated actress plays the title role in the upcoming adaptation Anna Karenina, where she endures her fair share of hardships.

Sorry, boys: Keira Knightley is engaged>>

Karenina marks Knightley's third collaboration with Joe Wright, who previously directed her in Pride and Prejudice and Atonement.

This time they're tackling the classic love story based on Leo Tolstoy's novel. They've got the help of Academy Award winner Tom Stoppard , who penned Anna Karenina's screenplay.

UK movies and why we love them!>>

According to the film's official synopsis:

The story unfolds in its original late-19th-century Russia high-society setting and powerfully explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children. As Anna questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.

Knightley stars alongside Jude Law, Aaron Johnson, Kelly Macdonald, Matthew Macfadyen, Domhnall Gleeson, Alicia Vikander, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams and Ruth Wilson.

Is Hollywood creativity really dead?>>

There have been several adaptations of Anna Karenina, so Knightley and Law have big shoes to fill. There was a 1935 version starring Greta Garbo and Fredric March, another in 1948 with Vivien Leigh and Ralph Richardson, as well as a 1987 made-for-TV movie with Jacqueline Bisset and Christopher Reeve.

Wright's Anna Karenina will hit theaters in limited release Nov. 9th.

Keira Knightley takes rare comedic role

The actress, who regularly plays more serious characters, has fun in her new role, even though the subject matter should be sad.

Keira KnightleyActress Keira Knightley always seems to be working on multiple projects at the same time, and right now is no different.

With three movies in the works, her new film Seekinga Friend for the End of the World will be released this week.

And this one is a little different than the rest.

The 27-year-old actress seems to appear mostly in period pieces. Or at the very least dramatic roles .

Even her role in the romantic comedy Love Actually was not incredibly humorous.

But this time, her character is in modern times, and actually has a sense of humor.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World teams Knightley up with Steve Carell .

The movie is about an unlikely friendship between two people preparing for the world to end.

“I've been doing a lot of very dramatic, tragic kinds of things, and I really fancied doing something that was positive,” she said to OKC. “I did say to a friend, ‘I'm doing a positive part,' and they asked what it was about. And I said, ‘the end of the world.'"

Knightley plays Penny, a girl who is the optimistic voice of the friendship.

“I love that about Penny,” Knightley said. “You do Anna Karenina and it's a good two-and-a-half hours getting ready every single morning. You do this, and you come in half an hour early, they cover your zits, and that's it really. It's great.”

Carell plays an insurance salesman, and a boring one at that, who meets a free spirit as they prepare for an asteroid to hit Earth.

Knightley admits she is not quite as positive as Penny is, but she does try.

“I thought that was very positive. She's just one of those people who is able to go, ‘This moment is fabulous.' I love that about her,” she admitted. “The film is about something horrendous, about death, doom and destruction. But the fact is, I came out of reading the script and found it incredibly uplifting and incredibly positive. What it really says is, what becomes important? And what becomes important is love and friendship and companionship and the wonderful moments in life.”

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World opens this Friday, June 22.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World movie review: Romance for the apocalypse

If an asteroid were to hit earth three weeks from today, would you spend your last precious hours updating your status on Facebook? Probably not. Would you leave your spouse? Don’t answer that. Eat every doughnut you could find? Definitely! Steve Carell and Keira Knightley find friendship and more just in time for the world to end in this bittersweet film.

Seeking a Friend dog

When Dodge’s wife Linda runs out of their car at a stoplight upon hearing that NASA’s space shuttle Deliverance failed to destroy the 70-foot-wide asteroid zooming toward earth, Dodge is devastated. Back at his apartment, his pretty 20-something neighbor Penny is having a fight with her rock-'n'-roll-reject boyfriend. Dodge comforts her and they begin an odd friendship.

Penny’s sweet but a bit flaky and now with the world ending, she can’t get a flight back to England to see her family for the last time. Dodge says he knows someone with a plane, but they’ll need to go on a road trip to find this mysterious air captain.

Like any good road-trip movie, there are numerous complications and surprising cameos from people like Martin Sheen as Dodge’s father and William Petersen as a suicidal trucker. Both Penny and Dodge search for something meaningful in their last days, knowing that true love is really the point of living together in this world, as fragile as it might be.

But what I find so interesting about this movie is the way it portrays the other characters facing a global crisis -- they just go on about their lives like nothing’s really changed. In this film, Americans continue to work at their dead-end jobs and go shopping because it's all they know how to do. OK, a few orgies take place and a there’s a lot of drinking, but for the most part, it’s life as usual.

Seeking a Friend restaurant

This way of thinking, this denial of death becomes a metaphor for how most of us walk around, pretending like the end won’t come when we should in fact be living exuberantly, waging love, not war, knowing we have such little precious time here. I admire the film’s writer/director Lorene Scafaria , who succeeds in giving us this clever little wake-up call to life.

Bottom line: While Steve Carell gives a touching performance, this is really Keira Knightley’s movie. She is fabulous as Penny, causing your heart to break and repair itself while watching this apocalyptic love story. Enjoy!

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World actress Keira Knightley tells us she knows what she looks for in a doomsday friend, what she’s bringing in her apocalypse shelter, and how she would spend her last days on earth.

Keira Knightley's future looks pretty bright right now. With a 2-carat diamond engagement ring on her finger, the end of the world is probably the last thing on the actress’s mind. But as the star of the apocalypse drama, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, we had to quiz the actress on her must haves come doomsday.

Keira’s love interest in the film, Steve Carell, seems to be the perfect fit for her as an "end of the world" friend, in the movie and in real life.

“I think if the world is going to end -- and that’s a pretty terrifying thought -- then you need someone you can laugh with,” Keira told us.

And Keira said Carell’s humor was contagious.

“I think he’s just one of the loveliest men ever, so it’s really easy to get on with him,” Keira said. “He’s just one of those wonderful people that’s just funny, but isn’t funny in a scary way. He makes everyone around him feel like they’re funny as well.”

Keira Knightley, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

But Keira already has a man at home to share her last moments with. Knightley and British rocker James Righton of The Klaxons got engaged in May. And she told us that spending time with her loved ones is the most important thing to her.

“I don’t think I’d get to the end of my life and go, ‘Gosh, I wish I’d jumped out of a plane,’ but I think I would go, ‘I wish I’d spent more time with the people that I love,’” Keira said.

So what would Keira and James be doing on their last days?

“Dancing a lot, drinking really good cocktails, and the Greek islands should come into it because I think sailing around those might be nice in the summer time,” Keira told SheKnows.

But Keira’s most important thing of all in a disaster…

“A lot of booze. Not beer, I don’t like beer. Wine, vodka, whisky… anything to make me forget about what was happening outside. “

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World star Steve Carell shares his apocalypse must haves with SheKnows, and tells us why Ryan Gosling makes this list.

In Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Steve Carell and Keira Knightley form an unlikely friendship after both are unable to spend their last days with loved ones.

So who would Carell pick out of his buds to share his last moments with? FYI, his wife was not an option in this hypothetical.

“Maybe Ryan Gosling,” Steve told SheKnows. “He’s just a cool, fun guy. He’d probably make you feel sort of relaxed because he’s a very chill dude. He could hold me in his strong arms.”

Sounds like a bromance has brewed between the two Crazy, Stupid, Love co-stars! In all actuality, Steve would clearly want his companion to be wife, Nancy, who makes a brief cameo in the film.

When asked what three things he would bring into his apocalypse shelter, Nancy’s needs were clearly considered.

“I would bring a toothbrush, because you have to consider personal hygiene,” Steve said. “I would bring along another toothbrush for my wife. I’m assuming she’s there with me, and a tube of toothpaste. You might as well take care of yourself.”

But if there’s no chance of survival, Steve knows exactly what he’ll be savoring in the end.

“I tend to gravitate to really, really bad-for-you food,” he told us. “I think you eat all the pasta you want, you have that red meat and all the sauces, and all the fried food. And you just don’t care.”

Sounds like a delicious way to go!

Be sure to catch Steve Carell and his co-star Keira Knightley in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, in theaters today!

Friday's box office winners and losers

Friday night's box office sales are in, and the answers may surprise you.

Abe Lincoln premiereIf Friday night’s box office sales are any indication of the weekend, there will be some big surprises for new movies.

The Pixar film Brave came in at number one, leaving any competition in its dust.

Friday night, the movie brought in $24.5 million.

Inside Movies reports this is just behind Cars 2 opening day, which came in at $25.7 million. But they say because Brave is not a sequel it should end up doing a little better than Cars 2’s opening weekend total of $66.1 million. They predict the total for Brave this weekend should be about $67 million, giving the Pixar team another huge win.

The number two movie Friday night was Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is without a doubt the best film we are ever likely to see on the subject,” said critic Roger Ebert.

Ebert offers probably the most truthful review of this movie in that one line. A quirky movie that made many unsure how it would be received raked in $6.3 million Friday night. Inside Movies said this will probably end up being around $16 over the weekend, for a movie that cost Fox $69 million.

Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted ended third on Friday, at $6.1 million. But the film is in its second week of release and Inside Movies said it is estimated that it will pass Abraham Lincoln by the end of the weekend. The big surprise is how well this movie did this weekend considering there is another children’s movie in the top spot.

A surprise loser this weekend was Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. The movie brought in only $1.3 million Friday, making it sixth. And for a movie with arguably two of Hollywood’s biggest stars the film couldn’t have been cheap.

Prometheus and Rock of Ages came in at fourth and fifth on Friday.

Keira Knightley: Just one of Hollywood's epic beauties

Looks that transcend time and place are enviable and make the rest of us wonder why we bother even getting out of bed in the morning. These women look incredible whether they're on today’s red carpet or playing a last-century character. Here are a few of them…

Keira KnightleyKeira Knightley

As the trailer for Keira’s latest movie, Anna Karenina, splashes across the Internet, we are reminded of how flawless Knightley’s skin, hair, face, okay everything is. Though Keira has breathtaking looks, her teeth are not perfect, which we like about her. Of course when you have cheekbones like that, you could have a mouth full of Chiclet© teeth and few would notice. While Keira’s beauty is era-spanning, we suspect our foresisters were a big chubbier than Keira since they mostly ate, sat, ate, sat, ate, sewed, ate, played the piano and ate.

scarlett JohanssonScarlett Johansson

Her face is angular and delicious, as Sprockets from SNL would say. Her cheekbones look genetically engineered and it’s just not right that her lips, chest and her a** are voluptuous. Where’s the justice in that? There isn’t any. When you can put a checkmark by every beauty feature that women covet the world over, you can play any role, from any time period. In fact, you can sit in front of a movie camera for two hours, do nothing, and it would still be a blockbuster. Scarlett proved this in The Other Boleyn Girl when she made all of us wish that floor-length bodice-busters would come back in style. Oh well. Maybe she has a large, unsightly, hairy mole on her back or perhaps she has an extra toe. We can only hope.

gwyneth PaltrowGwyneth Paltrow

Guinevere, oh Guinevere. Even Gywneth’s name has a medieval royalty ring to it. With her lithe figure and her natural, makeup-free beauty , she's another effortless beauty who can play the girl next door or William Shakespeare’s love. “It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night like a rich jewel in an Ethiope’s ear.” Whatever the hell that means. All we know is Gwyneth was meant for the big screen — yesterday, today and tomorrow.

kate winsletKate Winslet

We don’t know if it’s the British accent, the perfectly oval face, the porcelain skin or that romance-novel red ringlets she used to wear that gave Kate such a Victorian aura. Whatever it is, she looks like she should be ruling a kingdom of adoring subjects. We will forever love her for her sassy portrayal of Rose from The Titanic, especially when she popped off and said, “I see you had that undertaker of a manservant follow me,” and “Oh stop it, Mother. You’ll give yourself a nosebleed.” That’s our Kate — feisty and forever fabulous.

Cate BlanchettCate Blanchett

This Cate transcends time and place with her doe-eyed, highbrow loveliness. Long hair, short hair, blonde hair, red hair — it matters not what Cate does, she never loses her regal and supreme queenly countenance. Let’s hope casting directors for the next Phillipa Gregory movie remember Cate when it’s time to hire cinematic royalty.

The lush costume design found on Keira Knightley leaves little to be desired in this steamy, romantic adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's masterpiece, Anna Karenina.

Anna Karenina

That hat, that scarf, that dress!

Our first thought upon seeing Tolstoy's masterpiece brought to the big screen in the first major U.S. production in more than a decade is...

Where can we get that hat? And that dress? Ooh-la-la! The costumes alone are going to make the new film adaptation of Anna Karenina worth watching.

Keira Knightley's marriage falls apart in Anna Karenina>>

Keira Knightley embodies the role of the title character, Anna Karenina, and her struggle to keep her powerful husband in the dark about her secret affair.

Keira Knightley: Just one of Hollywood's epic beauties>>

With costume design by British designer Jacqueline Durran, audiences are in for the kind of buttoned-up wardrobe that makes for the steamiest of romances. The film is set in chilly 19th century Russia, which means Durran will be mixing a bit of Victorian fashion with some powerful Eastern flare. Gorgeous hats, furs, luscious adornments and fabulous dresses are sure to be out in full form.

Durran received an Oscar nomination for her work on the 2005 film Pride & Prejudice, also starring Knightley as well as Matthew Macfadyen and Donald Sutherland. Durran has also designed for the films Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Atonement.

Anna Karenina

Hello, Count Vronsky

The new trailer shows Anna in an icy world where only one man understands her—and that man is not her husband, Alexei Karenin, played by Jude Law.

Man Candy Mondays: We swoon for this naugty little bugger, Jude Law>>

Instead, Anna's heart belongs to the passionate cavalry officer Count Vronsky, played by relative newcomer Aaron Johnson, who has previously appeared in The Illusionist and Nowhere Boy.

Rich costumes with an even richer story make for a indulgent film, although we hope some of the best parts of the movie are with no costumes at all.

Anna Karenina

Atonement director Joe Wright helms this adaptation, which releases into theaters Nov. 16.

Anna Karenina movie review: Heroine or villain?

In this fabulous 21st-century telling of Tolstoy’s classic novel, Keira Knightley fascinates both Russian high society and today's audience. Literally set on a stage, this theatrical film indulges in one woman’s journey into selfish obsession. But when it comes to the dangerously sexy Vronsky — who can blame her?

Keira Knightley in Anna Karenina

4 out of 5 stars: Perfect for those who
love a good romantic tragedy

Anna is married to Karenin, a man of great wealth and status in the 19th-century Russian government. She delights in her young son, but having married very young, there is much she has yet to discover about herself.

On a trip to Moscow to help her philandering brother, Oblonsky , reconcile with his scorned wife, Dolly , Anna meets a dashing man named Vronsky and begins a journey into obsession, sexual desire, self-realization and destruction.

Meanwhile, a young landholder named Levin , who's not at the top of the social ladder, is obsessively in love as well. He lusts after Dolly's beautiful young sister, Kitty . He proposes marriage to pretty-Kitty, but alas, Kitty has also fallen under Vronsky's spell. She shuns Levin and rolls the dice with Vronsky, who she believes will spend the evening at the grand ball dancing with her.

Anna Karenina

Kitty and Anna are both shocked when bad-boy Vronsky can't take his eyes off married Anna. While mistresses were often taken by the Russian elite, for a young, single man to pursue an older, married woman was quite scandalous.

Anna, who respects her husband greatly, knows nothing of passionate romance and is defenseless when Vronksy chases after her. Once he catches her, neither he nor she can let go.

And herein lies the central question of Anna Karinina: Is she to be applauded for taking a stand against a societal double standard that allows men enormous moral latitude while denying women the same freedom? Or is she a selfish, childish narcissist who is incapable of feeling empathy for the husband and son to whom she has committed her life?

Anna Karenina

Director Joe Wright's creative decision to set the film on the stage of a theater provides a meaty metaphor for imperial Russian society. He implies that instead of living their lives with passion and truth, the pre-revolution upper class were "acting" as if they were fulfilled — "acting" as if they were happy. Anyone who's ever seen Dr. Zhivago knows the dark fate of the Russian upper crust.

Lush costumes and choreographed scenes flow like a ballet, as does Tom Stoppard's dialogue. Keira is extraordinary in the challenging role of Anna, and the gorgeous Aaron Taylor-Johnson grabs Vronsky by the throat and doesn't let go.

Bottom line: If you love costume dramas, particularly ones with romantic tragedy, you’ll love this film. Enjoy!
