Growing up famous was not an easy feat for Keira Knightley and she believes that the teenage years should be lived in private, away from the public eye.

During an interview with Elle UK, Knightley said that being an actress as a teenager is too hard and if she had a daughter she would definitely discourage her from getting into the business.

"Oh, 100 percent I'd absolutely tell her not to," Knightley told the magazine. "I would 150 million trillion percent be totally discouraging of [her] doing anything like that."

The Pirates of the Caribbean star went on saying that she believes teens should live out of the spotlight and away from the public. "Teenage years should be done privately," she insisted.

"You should be going out and getting unbelievably drunk, getting into ridiculous situations, making mistakes," Knightley added. "That's what that time of life is about and we should do that privately, one million trillion zillion percent."

Knightley's firm and infinite-percent belief in living the formative years away from prying eyes stems from her own experience as a teenager in Hollywood. While she wouldn't trade her past, she acknowledged it wasn't the best way she could have spent her teen years.

"I don't regret it — I wouldn't do my life any differently, but having lived through it... There was a very long time when [interviewers] were all, 'Well you're a s*** actress and you're anorexic and people hate you,'" Knightley revealed. "For a teenager or somebody in their early 20s, [it's] a very strange thing."

Her latest projects include Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit opposite Chris Pine and Laggies, in which she stars with Chloë Grace Moretz. The British beauty also has a happy personal life, having married her musician husband, James Righton, last May.
